Rachael Elliot – Violin

Rachael began learning the violin at the age of 9. After progressing through various youth orchestras in the North East of England she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Lesley Hatfield. She graduated from her Masters degree in 2014 gaining a distinction in her final performance.

Rachael now enjoys a busy freelance career, performing regularly around the UK with Orchestras including BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Bristol Ensemble, National Symphony Orchestra, Welsh Session Orchestra, British Sinfonietta and Cinematic Sinfonia. Rachael has played for numerous live broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and has performed on soundtracks including BBC’s Doctor Who and Hollow Crown. She has also made regular television appearances for BBC One, BBC Wales and S4C. Rachael recently became the newest member of The Mavron Quartet after being appointed 2nd Violinist earlier this year.

During her time as a freelance musician Rachael has performed for Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Phillip, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and has worked with many celebrated artists such as Joshua Bell, Maxim Vengerov, Austin Wintory, Sir Charles Mackerras, Katherine Jenkins, Alfie Boe and The Cinematic Orchestra.

Rachael has been kindly supported by a number of prizes and scholarships including The Laura Ashley Foundation Scholarship, Cardiff Violins Chamber Music Prize, Gabb and co. Prize and RWCMD scholarships throughout both Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies.
